First, I encountered the word "God" more than twice in the first 15 pages or so, and this immediately provided me with a sense that the author is a "God-fearing," holy revival, and group worshiping individual--very dramatic in my books. The text is lofty and large, and wastes unnecessary paper; this text could be much, much more compact and save so much paper! For an author to be in love "God" so much, and to "be the best man" he can, he certainly fails to consider the environment during publication endeavors.As an individual who has completed all of his coursework in a solid PhD nursing program, and subsequently walked out with both middle fingers all the way up (for various reasons), I find that Peg Boy Single's (who is a PhD) text "Demystifying Dissertation Writing" and Paul J. Silvia's (also a PhD) texts "Write It Up" and "How to Write a Lot" are indispensable texts that any PhD student should have in his/her arsenal. Both Dr. Boyle and Dr. Silvia's texts are chock-full of practical knowledge that will make one more efficient at day one of PhD coursework--not just the dissertation phase.I write a review for this text because I purchased it to glean useful information, but to my dismay, it failed provide me with such before I start my final PhD program journey in August 2019. This is it! The "Dissertation Warrior..." is now on the curb awaiting recycling...no joke!There are a few morsels of knowledge that may be of use to a novice PhD student, but if you would like the real deal, please do purchase Drs. Boyle and Silvia's texts. The Dissertation Warrior is a must for any doctoral student, but if you are coming into this with children and a career, it is essential to your sanity. I am not kidding. I am on page 95 of the book and have already found systems to help me break down the process of research into something that is entirely doable, not easy, but systematic. It will help you develop the habits to search for sources, read, and organize the information that will make it into your literature review.This stuff works! Chapter after chapter combines the work of a life coach, subject matter mentor, and action-oriented advisor. You don't have time, to pass up this guide to getting your dissertation done, get your work out into the world, and move onto to your next challenge.
